Before you make an offer
If you plan to use the property as a vacation rental, check City of Port Aransas short-term rental registration rules, occupancy limits and POA guidelines before making an offer. Check the FEMA flood zone (AE or VE), ask for an existing elevation certificate, and confirm how ground-level storage or parking enclosures are permitted. Ask for windstorm certificates (WPI-8) on the roof, windows and exterior work, and review HOA or condo association reserve funds and master insurance deductibles. On canal-front homes, have a marine contractor inspect the dock, boat lift, pilings and shoreline structures.
Windstorm insurance and flood zones vary by property; Marci can point you to the right specialist. This isn't insurance or legal advice.
A question Marci hears
Where can you drive golf carts in Port Aransas?
Registered golf carts are permitted on most city streets with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less and on designated sections of the beach, but they are not allowed on TX-361 south of Avenue G. Check current city rules for permit and equipment requirements.
